Wow, what a day. I've spent a few evenings working on something totally nerdy and fangirly, and last night I finally finished it. I was trying something different - drawing from a photograph, concentrating on greyscale, etc. Pretty pleased with how it turned out.

It's my favourite (and most adorable) F1 driver, Romain Grosjean.

Then I took the liberty of tweeting the Lotus F1 Team about it, and then THEY retweeted it and my Twitter feed exploded:

Everyone was so nice about it and some dude asked me to draw him so now I'm going to do that, and then start work on a Kimi Raikkonen drawing :D Just.. Amazing.

Fuck love.

I think this might be the best thing I have ever drawn.

I love it right now anyway, I'll probably hate it tomorrow. Feel like I'm channelling Steve Zissou with that hat/shirt combo - it was unintentional, I swear!

It was ably aided by the greatest hits of Ash which I listened to while drawing it, I think maybe Clones has overtaken Goldfinger as my favourite Ash song... But now I'm listening to Twilight of the Innocents and it's epic as fuck and I just want to yell and listen to those strings foreverrrrr!

Tamara and Too Many Hats

Oh hey Tamara. Just doodling and playing about with grey tones recently, moving away from just black and white and experimenting with tone and shadow a bit. I'm not very good at highlights and shadowing so it's something I really need to research and look into.

I'm loving drawing Tamara though. She has a wide forehead, and little pokey-out ears and barely a curve on her so I think she makes an excellent demon.

Still need to find a story for her though.

Tonight I did a funny little thing about all the hats I own, completely at random. I only really ever wear the big white wooly one, so why do I have all the others?! Again, playing with greys and stuff yada yada. HATS.

Seeing these two drawings together, it looks like I used a slightly thicker line with Tamara which I'm liking better right now.. But I think it's just because I drew her small, the hat one was drawn on A5.

DRG Booklet

I also made this over the past couple of days, it's for our home roller derby bout booklet. Every booklet has a spread where the rules of roller derby are explained for people who have never watched the sport before, so this is that! Hopefully it's easy enough to understand, and please ignore the shittiness of the screengrab I took from InDesign...

But yeah, it'll be cool to have something *I* drew and designed in a booklet that gets handed out to everyone at the bout! I may frame mine.

Beard of Zeus!

I *had* to post this here because it's Marc and he's awesome. It was his birthday today - a fact that he kept quiet so I had no idea until Facebook told me it was. Normally I'd send a card or something, but since it was too late and his girlfriend is insane I figured I'd do him a doodle as that's more or less what I do best.

Obviously all Norse-Metal-Clawhands because it's Maaaaarc <3 Happy birthday ninja!
